Lunar New Year Festivities at LAX, JFK and EWR

URW Airports celebrated the Year of the Pig during Lunar New Year festivities at Los Angeles International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

URW Airports celebrated the Year of the Pig during Lunar New Year festivities at Los Angeles International Airport, JFK International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

Lion dancers, exciting décor and unique in-terminal promotions highlighted the celebration of one of the most important social and economic holidays in the Asian community. According to the myths, the pig was the last to arrive at the Jade Emperor’s party and assumed the final place. Their chubby faces and big ears are signs of wealth and fortune.

Traveling onlookers reveled in performances of the Lion Dance, which symbolizes power, courage, and good fortune. Wushu Shaolin Entertainment performed the Lion Dance at LAX’s Tom Bradley International Terminal, and the Wan Chi Ming Hung Gar Institute brought the Lion Dance and percussionists to Terminals A and B at Newark Liberty and Terminal 8 at JFK.

“It’s such a treat for us to see travelers stop in their tracks and take in these amazing performances,” said Dan Hough, URW Airports’ Vice President and Asset Lead at LAX. “Working together with LAWA and our terminal operators, we were able to provide a really special experience and memory to our airport guests.”
