URW celebrates the holidays at O'Hare and JFK airports

URW sponsored events for employees and community members

Travel is at a high during the holidays but we think it’s important to celebrate our employees, communities, and airports during this season. Here are just some of our airport teams at Chicago’s O’Hare International (ORD) and John F. Kennedy International Airport activities:

ORD

O’Hare Airline Manager Association Warm Clothes and Coat Drive:

In partnership with Hudson, URW donated nine large boxes of hoodies, gloves, hats, and slippers.

This event is sponsored by The O’Hare Airline Manager Association (OAMA) to benefit the needs of Chicago’s growing homeless and migrant population.

Live Music:

During the week of December 18, guests will be treated to live piano, saxophone and violin music in Terminal 5 along with Dunkin' hot chocolate. Musicians will play international music corresponding to the countries of departing flights.

Holiday luncheon:

To celebrate the season, URW is hosting a holiday luncheon for Terminal 5 employees on Dec. 21 and 22. Employees will be treated to a lunch from T5 concessionaire and ACDBE operator, Goddess & Grocer.

Toys for Tots:

Dory the Pilot and her cast of princesses and superheroes departed T5 to Toys for Tots, for children in need this holiday season! The URW team donated boxes of toys as part of the airport-wide initiative to spread some magic this holiday season!

JFK

Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express Flight:

URW was honored to help host the pre-boarding party at JFK T8 for the Snowball Express Flight through the Gary Sinise Foundation during two Saturdays in December.

The Gary Sinise Foundation is dedicated to serving the children of our fallen military heroes, surviving spouses and guardians – our nation’s Gold Star families and American Airlines is a proud and official airline partner. The Snowball Express Flight is a play on the Polar Express in that American Airlines charters flights and picks up the children and their families from various cities and brings them all together for a fun-filled all-expense paid 5-day trip to Walt Disney World.

46th Annual Children’s Holiday Party

The Rotary Club of JFK Airport brought magic to more than 400 children with special needs from local Queens schools and Mill Neck School for the Deaf during its 46th Annual Children’s Holiday Party.

Hundreds of children greeted Santa Claus who appropriately arrived by plane to the airport. He brought gifts for each child donated by the JFK Community including from JFK T8. The children enjoyed delicious holiday treats and eats, a performance by The Aviation High School’s Color Guard and Chorus, dancing, and a special visit by the K9’s of the CBP and U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Each child spent some time with Santa and Mrs. Claus bringing smiles to everyone.

URW was honored to be a sponsor of the festive party that is always a favorite at the airport.
